Middlesex Savings Bank has made a $2,500 contribution towards the renovation of the Framingham Veterans Memorial Park.

The park, located across the street from Framingham District Court, was originally constructed in the 1950s and last updated in 1985. Led by the Framingham Police Union, a group of local volunteers are seeking to raise funds to renovate the park and honor veterans who have served more recently.

“The Veterans Park Improvement Project will greatly improve the condition of the only veterans park in Framingham,” said James Snyder, Framingham director of parks, recreation & cultural affairs. “The primary goal is to respectfully honor the sacrifices of Framingham veterans by updating the most recent wars on the memorials, adding armed service flags, and improving access to the park by repaving the walkway and adding benches for those with mobility challenges with a new walkway and benches.”

“Thanks to Middlesex Savings Bank’s help, the City will be able to renovate the entire park and create a peaceful space for veterans to reflect and honor those who have served in our armed forces,” said Snyder.

The public may support the renovation project directly, purchase personalized bricks, benches, and flagpoles for the park.
