Middlesex Makes Half-Million Dollar Financial Gift to First Responders in Twenty-Six Communities

Fifty-two police and fire departments in twenty-six communities are surprised with news of a $10,000 gift. 

The Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce a $520,000 donation to 52 local police and fire departments in 26 communities. First responders were surprised when they received calls from their local Middlesex Savings Bank branch managers, notifying them of the charitable gesture.

This is not the first time that Middlesex has made proactive financial gifts to service organizations in its community. In 2019, the Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation granted a cumulative gift of over $1.4 million to 84 food pantries, libraries, and senior centers/councils on aging in each of its twenty-five branch towns. In 2018, Middlesex gifted $1.2 million to the education foundations in its branch towns.

Mike McAuliffe, president and CEO of Middlesex Savings Bank stated, “Middlesex Savings Bank’s gift to our local first responders is given as a gesture of gratitude and recognition for all that they do to keep our communities safe. We saw that firsthand last summer when several local police and fire departments responded to the downtown Natick fire across the street from our branch. As a 185-year old community bank, supporting the organizations that care for our customers and neighbors is a vital part of our heritage.”

Recipients of this gift include the police and fire departments located in the following towns: Acton, Ashland, Bedford, Bellingham, Boxborough, Concord, Framingham, Franklin, Groton, Holliston, Hopkinton, Littleton, Maynard, Medfield, Medway, Millis, Natick, Needham, Sherborn, Southborough, Sudbury, Walpole, Wayland, Wellesley, Westborough, and Westford.
