Spreading Holiday Cheer: How Middlesex Employees Make a Difference in the Community this Holiday Season

December 23, 2024
The holiday season is a time of joy, generosity, and togetherness—a time to reflect on the true meaning of community. At Middlesex Savings Bank, we’re incredibly proud of our employees, who embody these values by giving back in meaningful ways. This year, continuing a long-standing tradition of generosity, employees have brightened the lives of countless families, children, and neighbors through various charitable initiatives.

Toy Drives to Bring Smiles

What’s the holiday season without the joy of unwrapping a gift? Our employees organized not one, not two, but three toy drives this year, contributing over 340 gifts to benefit the following organizations:
  • Circle of Hope (Needham):By keeping our communities warm with hats, gloves, and socks, employees donated over 40 items. A special thank you to Hailey Howard of the Eastwood Club Inc. who thoughtfully knit and donated 16 hats.
  • Westborough Youth and Family Services: Employees generously donated over 160 gifts for older children and teens.
  • Toys for Tots (Worcester County): Over 140 items were kindly contributed for children in need.

Adopting Families for the Holidays

This season, employees in our Natick office worked with Project Just Because (Hopkinton) to sponsor a large family in need, providing thoughtful gifts and essential items to help make their holidays brighter. Together, they generously donated over $1,000 worth of gifts and gifts cards, bringing joy and offering much-needed support.

Volunteering to Make a Difference

Giving back isn’t just about what we donate—it’s also about giving our time. Through our MSBConnect group, employees led their own volunteer events while also coming together for a larger event at the Walker School. The organizations that we supported included:
  • Dignity Matters (Westborough): Employees packaged 1,860 pairs of underwear and over 200 bras. The underwear alone are enough to directly help 310 women, providing essential support to help them focus on life’s bigger challenges without worrying about basic necessities.
  • Household Goods (Acton): Employees assembled couches, built dining room tables, cleaned dining room chairs, created bedding kits, and stocked the showroom with small furniture.
  • Natick Service Council: Volunteers assembled to help load holiday gifts into clients’ cars.
  • Sud’s Up Laundry Mat (Worcester): Employees volunteered to provide free laundry services, helping ease a basic but essential household expense.
  • Veteran’s Inc. (Worcester): Employees participated in the annual toy and coat drive, assisting shoppers in selecting gifts, loading carts, and restocking the toy table in a rewarding and heartwarming experience.

Why We Give Back

At Middlesex Savings Bank, our commitment to supporting the community is at the heart of everything we do. This season, we’re reminded once again of how powerful it is to come together for a common cause.

Here’s to a season of giving, joy, and togetherness. Happy holidays from all of us at Middlesex Savings Bank!
