A group of Middlesex Savings Bank employees participating in the organization’s volunteer program, MSB Connect, recently celebrated a very successful effort to collect donations of food to benefit local food pantries and humane societies. Employees across the organization enthusiastically supported the cause by donating over 2,700 items, which weighed in at more than 2,500 pounds! These stats make this food drive the most successful to date at Middlesex.
Donations directly supported Acton Food Pantry, A Place to Turn - Natick, Baypath Humane Society, Buddy Dog Humane Society, Hudson Community Food Pantry, Maynard Open Table, and Medfield Food Cupboard. Collected items were distributed in August, which was especially impactful, as late summer is often the most challenging for food pantries and humane societies alike.
"When we first began the food drive, it was in the midst of the pandemic. I thought we were seeing the worst of food insecurity then, but each year since the need has become even greater. I continue to be amazed by how our colleagues come together to support our communities through the food drive. The sheer volume of food collected, along with the connections colleagues make working towards a common goal, is awe inspiring!"
-Melinda Gladden, MSB Connect Leadership Team
MSB Connect was established in 2014 by a group of employees who were encouraged by both the bank’s continuous support of the community and their colleagues’ genuine desire to volunteer and help. By organizing several volunteer activities each year, MSB Connect provides opportunities for colleagues to live with impact as they help local non-profit organizations and work with teammates from across the organization.
