At Middlesex, we’ve always believed that being a community bank means more than offering checking accounts and mortgages. It means being a resource, an ally, and a teacher. That’s why we’re proud to introduce Money Matters, our financial literacy program designed for everyone — from curious third graders to high school students, local nonprofits, and even seniors in our community.
Money Matters is simple at its heart: we bring our employees out into the community to share knowledge in a way that’s approachable, practical, and even fun. Our volunteers show up with handouts, games, and interactive presentations that are tailored to each group we visit.
And already, we’ve had some incredible experiences:
For us, these moments are what community banking is all about.
As one of our branch managers, Fernando GarciaMatos, put it: “Being able to share my time and knowledge through Money Matters has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. When you see students’ eyes light up as they realize how saving even a few dollars a week adds up, or hear seniors thank us for helping them feel more confident spotting fraud, you know you’ve made a difference.”
We couldn’t agree more.
Money Matters isn’t a packaged program we bought or borrowed — it’s something we created right here, with our own employees and our own community in mind. We’re excited to keep growing it and bringing financial confidence to more people, one classroom, one nonprofit, and one conversation at a time.
If you’re part of a school, nonprofit, or community group and would like to bring Money Matters to your organization, we’d love to connect. Fill out the form here to learn more.
Because when it comes to financial literacy, everyone deserves the tools to succeed.

And already, we’ve had some incredible experiences:
- At Keefe Tech in Framingham, our team is empowering high schoolers to save, build credit, and make smart financial choices early.
- At Girls Inc. in Worcester, we brought money lessons to third and fourth graders with games that made learning feel like play.
- In our branches, we’ve hosted Fraud Awareness Nights, and we’ve visited with local senior centers to help older adults spot scams before they happen.
