Middlesex Savings Bank Annual “Lifetime Coach Award” Program Policy – 2010/2011 Rules & Procedures

 

This program is intended to award meritorious public service based on work done as a public employee, as part of a program that makes such awards on a regular basis, pursuant to established standards developed by Middlesex Savings Bank, and as permitted under rules promulgated by the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission.

How to enter:

  • Entries are accepted online at http://www.middlesexbank.com/mycoach.

  • All entries must include the nominator’s first and last name, address, and email address, as well as the first and last name, school, sport, and the calendar years in which the nominator was coached by, or able to observe, the nominated coach.

  • All entries must include an essay with a maximum of 500 words per essay that explains how the nominated coach impacted your life at the time of your athletic participation, as well as the ways in which that impact has resulted in a lasting positive impression on your life.

  • Multiple entries submitted by the same person for the same coach will not increase chances of winning, as only the first entry per person will be recognized.

  • Nominators may submit multiple entries only if each additional entry is nominating a different coach.

  • Entries will be accepted beginning at 12:00 AM on 11/23/10 and entry acceptance will cease at 11:59 PM on 12/22/10.

Eligibility restrictions:

  • Coach being nominated must have coached a high school sport at any time in the past or present, and must have coached at a high school serving a town where a Middlesex Savings Bank Branch is located (Acton, Ashland, Bedford, Bellingham, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Dunstable, Framingham, Franklin, Groton, Holliston, Hopkinton, Lincoln, Littleton, Maynard, Medfield, Medway, Milford, Millis, Natick, Needham, Northborough, Southborough, Sudbury, Wayland, Wellesley, and Westford, MA).

  • All high school sports are eligible.

  • Male and female coaches are eligible.

  • All levels of high school coaching are eligible (Freshman, JV, Varsity, Head Coach, Assistant Coach, etc).

  • The coach must be living, able to be contacted, and able to make the trip to the national football championship game on February 6, 2011 in Arlington, Texas.

  • Nominations can be submitted both by individuals who have been coached by the nominee in the past, as well as by individuals who were not coached directly by the nominee, but were in a position where they were able to observe, first hand, the actions and impact that the nominated coach had on the lives of those students.

  • Nominator must have already graduated from high school and cannot currently be coached, or be able to be coached in the future, by the coach they are nominating.

  • Coaches and nominators who are also directors, employees, or immediate family members of Middlesex Savings Bank, or trustees of Middlesex Bancorp, MHC are ineligible to participate.

  • Nominators and nominees are not required to be Middlesex Savings Bank customers.

  • All coaches being nominated must be U.S. residents 18 years of age and older.

Selection of winner: 

  • Contest entries shall be anonymized upon receipt by a Middlesex Savings Bank employee not participating in the winner selection process.  The names, towns, and schools of the nominees will be redacted to ensure that any personal biases relative to the individual, town, or schools of the nominees are not a factor in the selection process.

  • Middlesex Savings Bank marketing personnel will review all submissions and select 5 finalists based on the following criteria:

    • Number of nominations each individual coach received.
    • The compelling nature of the story about how the coach’s actions impacted those they coached.  Entries will be considered favorably that include the following:
      • Specific details regarding actions taken by the coach that resulted in significant impact on the life of the student at that time of the coaching.
      • Specific details on how actions by the coach while the nominator was in school had a significant impact on that person’s later life.
      • Consistency among nominator entries showing broad-based impact over the course of the coach’s career.
  • The grand prize winner will be selected by the CBS Boston radio promotions department.

  • Middlesex Savings Bank will notify the 5 finalists of their status on December 23, 2010.  Finalists must inform Middlesex Savings Bank in writing (including email) no later than December 29, 2010 of their willingness and ability to accept the grand prize, or runner up prizes, should they win.  Middlesex Savings Bank will provide the 5 finalists to CBS Boston on 12/29/10.

  • The final selection will take place on 12/31/2010.  The winner will be notified at that time, their acceptance will be confirmed, and their name will be provided to CBS Boston for travel security purposes.

  • A formal award presentation ceremony will be held in mid-January.

Prize Structure:

  • Grand prize includes a trip to the national football championship game on February 6, 2011 in Arlington, Texas.  Prize consists of airfare and lodging for two as well as a pair of tickets to the championship game and other official events.  Winner is responsible for food, lodging, and transportation and entertainment expenses beyond the official events included as part of the prize.  Full details of the grand prize are available upon request.

  • The winning coach will also have $1,000.00 donated in his or her name to a local sports booster organization of their choosing in the town where his or her coaching took place, provided that such funds will not be paid to the coach indirectly or directly.

  • The four runner-up coaches will have $500 donated in their name to a local sports booster organization of their choosing in the town where his or her coaching took place, provided that such funds will not be paid to the coach indirectly or directly.

  • Grand prize winner will be announced by CBS Boston Radio personnel on 1/2/11 as part of the Patriots Radio Broadcast on The Sports Hub 98.5 FM Boston.

Conditions:

  • Prizewinner accepts responsibility for all taxes, tips other liabilities associated with the prize, as well as compliance with all applicable Massachusetts law and regulation.

  • Prize is not transferable, assignable, or redeemable for cash.

  • By participating in the contest, the winner agrees to have his or her name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation.

  • By entering, participants agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless Middlesex Savings Bank and CBS Boston, including their affiliates and officers, directors, trustees, employees, volunteers, and sponsors of such entities from any and all liability, loss, damage, or injury resulting from participation in this promotion.

  • Middlesex Savings Bank, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify a person for tampering with the entry process or with the operation of the Middlesex Savings Bank or CBS Boston website or who is otherwise in violation of the rules.

Right to make changes: 

  • Middlesex Savings Bank reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, including the substitution of a prize of equivalent or greater value, which will become effective upon announcement.

No purchase required: 

  • There is no purchase or donation necessary.  Void where prohibited.

Responsibilities:

  • Middlesex Savings Bank is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering, or the administration of the contest of in the announcement of the prize.

Copies of contest rules:

  • Copies of the written contest rules will be available up to 30 days after the end of the contest at http://www.middlesexbank.com/mycoach.  You may also receive the rules by mail by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Middlesex Savings Bank, Marketing Contest Rules, 36 Summer Street, Natick, MA 01760.
